The Bolsa de Diamantes de Lisboa by Associação dos Diamantiers de Portugal, signed on May 23 a protocol with the Governo Regional da Madeira in which it was established that the Bolsa de Diamantes de Lisboa will cooperate with the Governo Regional da Madeira on the conduct of the compliance and due diligence of the companies of diamond, , color gemstones and precious metals industry that wish to establish in the ZFM (Zona Franca da Madeira) or CINM (Centro Internacional de Negócios da Madeira) through the SDM (Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Madeira) pursuant to the Regional regulatory decree nº 21/87/M, of September 5.
The companies of the diamond, color gemstones and precious metals sector, that establish in the CINM can beneficiate from a special tax regime, among others, of a rate of 5% on IRC over taxable income and tax exemption on dividends received for the nonresident entities that comply with all the requirements.
It should be noted that Portugal is, since 2015, an entry point of rough diamonds in Europe authorized by the Kimberley Process and that, through the Lisbon Diamond Office, located in the Lisbon International Airport, which is managed by Bolsa de Diamantes Lisboa ( Associação dos Diamantiers de Portugal), was established a free zone for diamonds while the imported diamonds are deposited at the Lisbon Diamond Office.
